The S&P Global Taiwan Manufacturing PMI edged down to 55.1 in July 2026 from 55.2 in June, its weakest reading since March. Nonetheless, the index stayed firmly in expansion territory for an eighth consecutive month, supported by an eighth straight month of rising output, which remained above its long-run average.

New export orders also increased for a seventh successive month, though the pace of expansion softened slightly compared with the previous month. In the labor market, Taiwanese manufacturers resumed hiring for the first time since February, but the increase in employment was only marginal.

On the price front, input cost inflation eased to its lowest level since January, while output charge inflation slowed to a five-month low, pointing to a moderation in overall pricing pressures.

Looking ahead, manufacturers in Taiwan remained optimistic about production over the coming 12 months. However, the degree of confidence slipped to its lowest level since April.
