15.12.202515:10:10UTC+00Sri Lanka Manufacturing PMI Slows to 55.5 in November

Sri Lanka's Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) decreased to 55.5 in November 2025, down from 61.0 in October. This decline indicates that while manufacturing activity continued its expansion, the pace has slowed. All sub-indices contributed to the growth, albeit at reduced rates: new orders dipped to 58.5 from 64.0, driven primarily by the food and beverages, and textiles and apparel sectors. Production saw a significant drop to 50.0 from 62.5, and employment experienced a slight decrease to 55.5 from 56.0. Additionally, stocks of purchases fell to 57.0 from 62.5. Suppliers' delivery times remained extended at 57.7, just below October’s 58.0, highlighting ongoing input demand. Looking forward, despite recent adverse weather conditions, manufacturers stay cautiously optimistic about the upcoming quarter.
