Vietnam posted a trade deficit of USD 3.69 billion in July 2026, reversing from a surplus of USD 2.34 billion in the same month a year earlier. Exports rose 25.0% year-on-year to USD 53.08 billion, while imports surged 41.4% to USD 56.67 billion.

Over the January–July period, the country recorded a trade deficit of USD 20.52 billion, compared with a surplus of USD 10.35 billion in the corresponding period last year. During these seven months, exports grew 21.7% to USD 319.53 billion, and imports increased 34.8% to USD 340.05 billion.

Processed industrial goods were estimated at USD 287.91 billion, accounting for 90.1% of total exports. The United States remained Vietnam's largest export market, with export value estimated at USD 104.7 billion.

On the import side, production materials were estimated at USD 319.95 billion, representing 94.1% of total imports. China continued to be Vietnam’s largest supplier, with import turnover estimated at USD 138.6 billion.
